ConvertKit and Aweber are two of the most popular email service providers on the market, but which one has the edge?
That’s exactly what we’ll be covering in this post, so you can make the right decision for your business.
So if you’re looking to find the right email marketing platform to help grow and scale your business, stick around, and let’s dive right into the comparison!
Here's what we'll cover...
About ConvertKit
ConvertKit is a popular email marketing service launched by Nathan Barry in 2013! Focused specifically on bloggers & creators, they’ve built a tool that’s perfect for online entrepreneurs.
They’ve built a simple email marketing platform that doesn’t lack in power, so you can get the best results from your email marketing efforts!
About Aweber
Aweber is the first autoresponder to ever exist, being launched in 1998 by Tom Kulzer. After identifying a gap in the market, he launched Aweber to give companies a way to automate their sales leads and customer support!
With over 20 years and 120,000 users, they’re one of the most household names in this industry and really common among affiliate marketers.
Which has the better features?
ConvertKit Features
ConvertKit is loaded with features to help bloggers & creators better serve their audience, while still providing a simple user interface that makes it easy to use!
Here’s the best features that ConvertKit offers:
- Email marketing & newsletters
- Email designer
- Commerce
- Automations
- Landing pages
- Email sign-up forms
- Segmentation
- Advanced reporting
- Email templates
- Integrates with many different tools
So if you’re looking to grow your audience online, ConvertKit is going to be a good fit for you. They even introduced their Commerce feature recently, which allows you to sell and deliver digital products without needing any additional software!
Aweber Features
Aweber is going to be a solid fit for any affiliate marketers or small businesses. With over 20 years and over 1,000,000 businesses using their service, they’re a well established platform that’s worth considering!
Here’s Aweber’s best features:
- Email marketing & newsletters
- Automations
- Sign up forms
- Segmentation
- Landing pages
- Integrates with many different tools
- Email templates
- Email designer
- Reporting
Even with all of those features, I’ve found Aweber to be a bit lackluster in what they offer to their users. The features simply aren’t powerful enough to compete with other email marketing providers like ConvertKit!
ADVANTAGE: ConvertKit

ADVANTAGE: Aweber
Everything else you need to know about ConvertKit vs Aweber
Which is easier to use?
Both ConvertKit and Aweber are easy to use when compared to other similar softwares, but I found ConvertKit to have the edge in this category.
Navigating through Aweber can be troubling at times, while ConvertKit has the best user interface of any email marketing tool I’ve used making it a no brainer!
ADVANTAGE: ConvertKit
Which has better support?
Aweber and ConvertKit offer different types of support to their users. While they both offer full migrations for free, they differ in the other support.
ConvertKit has a full help desk, free workshops, and a ticket system their members can take advantage of. Personally, I’ve never had an issue or support question for ConvertKit, so I can’t comment on how effective it is!
On the other hand, Aweber has 24/7 live support (via phone, email, or chat). For obvious reasons, this gives Aweber the crown in this section.
ADVANTAGE: Aweber
Which has better integrations?
Nowadays, most email marketing platforms have the integrations you’ll need to make your business work.
Since they both offer well over 100 integrations each, I’ll let you check the lists for yourself to make sure you’ll have no issues: ConvertKit’s integrations, and Aweber’s integrations.
ADVANTAGE: Tie
Which has better templates?
Both ConvertKit and Aweber have templates available for landing pages, opt-in forms, and emails!
They’re both pretty similar in this category, so I’ll have to give them a tie. They’ll have you covered no matter what type of template you’re looking for.
ADVANTAGE: Tie
Which has better deliverability?
If your emails are ending up in the spam box, nothing else matters.
That’s why deliverability is the most important aspect when choosing an email service provider, so don’t skip this section!
After testing both of these tools out extensively, I found my open rates and deliverability to be much lower when using Aweber…
But when using ConvertKit, I had zero issues with deliverability and saw a massive increase in my open rates, making them a massive winner here!
ADVANTAGE: ConvertKit
Conclusion
Generally speaking, these platforms are super similar in what they offer.
While Aweber has been around much longer than ConvertKit, I would still choose ConvertKit in almost every situation!
Since they’re easier to use, have better features, and higher deliverability, ConvertKit is pretty much a no-brainer if you want to get the best results from your marketing efforts.
Why you may want to go with ConvertKit
If you’re a creator or blogger, ConvertKit’s going to be the better choice for you. They’ve designed their entire platform specifically for those types of users, and they did it right!
As a blogger, there’s no other email marketing tool that makes it easier to build an audience.
Why you may want to go with Aweber
While Aweber says they’re marketed towards small businesses, I’d only choose Aweber if your main business is affiliate marketing. Since you could run into issues with ConvertKit, it’s the safer and better option — you don’t want to lose your list!
And if you’re a small business owner looking to scale, I would recommend ActiveCampaign over both options, hands-down.
