DropFunnels vs Kajabi: One Clear Winner, But Which Is It?

by Dylan | Last Updated on March 2, 2021
Important Update:

The only funnel builder I recommend is ClickFunnels 2.0, for a few reasons.

It's affordable, easy to use, a complete product and they have a helpful customer team. I can't say the same for the other funnel builders I've tested on this website anymore.

If you have been looking to start an online business that sells info products or something similar, two of the most popular options you may have seen are DropFunnels and Kajabi.

While both are good, using the wrong software could damage your business growth or waste a significant amount of money!

That’s why in this article, we’re going to be comparing these options to help you find the best option for you and your business.

Our Pick
DropFunnels

DropFunnels

DropFunnels is a premium funnel builder that launched pretty recently. Known for their impressive page speeds and affordable pricing, they’re a great option for all online business owners!

About DropFunnels

DropFunnels is a relatively new funnel builder that was created by Jordan Mederich.  It aims to be a complete funnel builder that doesn’t only beat the competition in features, but also page speed, conversions, organic reach, and price.

That’s not an easy goal to achieve with the strong competition. But, we’ll take a look at whether it achieves it later on.

The target audience for DropFunnels is of course a wide range of online businesses, but I’d say it’s primarily focused on info-product vendors because of the nature of it.

About Kajabi

Kajabi on the other hand aims to be an all-in-one platform for online businesses. This means it aims to not only help info-product vendors create top of the line membership sites, but to also equip them with all the needed marketing tools to sell and promote their products!

They’re most known for their awesome membership sites, but there’s a lot more Kajabi can do for your business.

We’ll speak more on Kajabi’s features shortly!

Which has better features?

Now that we know some of the basic information about both of these platforms, let’s take a look at the features.

DropFunnels Features

Let’s start by taking a look at DropFunnels’ core features.

Drag & drop page builder

Just like most other funnel builders out there, DropFunnels comes with a nice drag & drop page builder. When using it, I was very impressed with the ease of use, and how many different elements you can choose from.

It’s a great page builder that lets you build your pages incredibly quickly.

Front-end Websites & Funnels + Templates

DropFunnels gives you everything you need to create beautiful and high-converting front-end websites and funnels. The cool thing about DropFunnels though is that it lets you build pretty much any website you wish (Landing pages, funnels, full-navigation, etc.)

It even has a comprehensive blogging app which you can use to run a blog, and get organic traffic. That’s quite impressive, as there aren’t many other funnel builders that have this.

Membership Sites

Another cool thing about DropFunnels is the membership site feature. It lets you sell unlimited courses, as it comes with unlimited membership sites on all plans which is pretty cool.

It has all the usual membership site features that you would expect, with an easy-to-use page builder. The only aspect in which it lacks compared to Kajabi is the engagement tools, such as the quizzes. But again, we’ll talk more about Kajabi later on in this comparison.

CRM

Something that I also like about DropFunnels is the CRM feature. What I like in particular about it, is that it doesn’t limit you based on contacts which most other CRM’s do.

This is great, as it gives you the additional ability to manage your leads and keep an overview of who’s the closest to converting.

Other features:

What About Email Marketing?

Although DropFunnels doesn’t come with a built-in email marketing tool, it does come with the ability to integrate with your favorite autoresponders. Some of the integrations on the list include ConvertKit and ActiveCampaign.

While some of you might be disappointed that DropFunnels doesn’t come with a built-in tool, it’s worth noting that most people like to use a designated email service anyway because of the advanced features.

For example, I know quite a few people that have membership sites hosted with tools that have built-in autoresponders, but they still tend to use dedicated email service providers!

Kajabi Features

Kajabi also has some similar features to DropFunnels, let’s take a look to see how they compare.

Here are Kajabi’s core features:

Kajabi’s core feature is, of course, the membership site builder. And, it’s one area where Kajabi is hard to beat…

This feature of Kajabi has been receiving development since the launch in 2010 which is why it’s so advanced. It comes with lots of customization options, at least if you are on the higher plans.

Additionally, it also comes with a great number of engagement tools like Quizzes, assessments, and surveys. Dropfunnels doesn’t have this.

Another thing that DropFunnels doesn’t have is affiliate management, but it does have lots of integrations for advanced platforms.

What About The Rest?

The rest of what Kajabi offers is pretty standard. Aside from their membership sites, I’d have to give DropFunnels the nod in most categories…

DropFunnels has a much better page & website builder, as well as better sales, funnel features. For example, DropFunnels lets you share funnels with just a link, while Kajabi doesn’t have this feature!

That being said, Kajabi does have a visual pipeline builder which is pretty cool. However, there are some free tools out there like Funnelytics that pretty much do the same thing.

So, to summarize, Kajabi wins in terms of building the back-end membership sites, but DropFunnels wins in pretty much everything else. DF simply makes it easier to build landing pages, funnels, and even blogs or full-navigation websites.

You can build these with Kajabi, however, it’s much harder to do so. And, DropFunnels also has a little more flexibility in the creation process because there are more elements.

Advantage: Tie. DropFunnels has much better features for the front end, but Kajabi has more available on the back-end. Although DropFunnels offers more features, Kajabi comes with affiliate management, while DropFunnels doesn’t. So, it’ll depend on the nature of your business.

How much does each software cost?

Let’s take a look at the cost of both of these platforms to see which one suits your needs the best.

DropFunnels Pricing

DropFunnels comes with three different pricing options which are quite affordable, especially when you consider what they come with.

DropFunnels Starter – $49 per month

This pricing plan comes with:

Although 1 site might not sound like a lot, it just means one domain. You can have several courses and funnels on the same domain. And, for $49 per month, that’s quite a good deal.

DropFunnels Pro – $149 per month

This plan comes with:

Of course, the main differences between this plan and the previous one are the number of sites and visitors. Other than that, both give you access to all their features which is pretty nice.

If you felt the starter plan doesn’t offer enough resources, this plan should cover you unless you are an agency.

DropFunnels Agency – $297 per month

Last but not least we have the Agency package:

As the name suggests, if you do want to use DropFunnels for a lot of clients then this is the right option for you.

Kajabi Pricing

Kajabi’s pricing starts a little higher compared to DropFunnels, but it is still priced very reasonably!

Kajabi Basic – $149 Per Month

The basic plan comes with:

Similar to DropFunnels’ basic plan, the limit here is also one website. But, it also has some other limits like 3 products and pipelines.

Something that I like about this plan though is that the limit for contacts is quite high (10,000). If you are looking to use Kajabi’s email marketing feature, then it’s quite nice that this limit is high.

The only thing I don’t like about this plan is the Kajabi branding. I think if you are paying $149 per month, you should be able to remove the Kajabi branding.

Kajabi Growth – $199 Per Month

The growth plan includes:

Most people using Kajabi should have everything they need with this plan. However, something that I find disappointing is the 1 website limit. I’m not quite sure why there is no increase from the previous plan, especially when the next price is double the cost of this one.

Kajabi Pro – $399 Per Month

Last but not least there is also the Pro plan which costs $399 per month.

This plan still has some limits:

And you also get access to the code editor with this plan!

Again, I’m not a big fan of the 3 website limits, especially when you consider DropFunnels’ pro plan ($149 per month) allows you to host 5 websites.

Other than that, this plan should give you everything you need.

Advantage: DropFunnels. When you compare the plans, you’ll see that DropFunnels’ are often half the price and still come with more websites.

Everything else you should know about DropFunnels & Kajabi

Of course, there are a few areas of both of these pieces of software that we haven’t covered yet. Take a look below to find all the other information you need about them.

Which is easier to use?

Both of these two pieces of software are incredibly easy to use.

I find DropFunnels’ page builder to be a little smoother. Plus, in general, DropFunnels is very easy to use, and keeps an overview of what’s happening automatically.

Advantage: DropFunnels

Which has better support?

DropFunnels only offers ticketing support, while Kajabi has email and live chat.

They both also have a great help center which is full of useful articles to help you get the answers you need. Still, this is a win for Kajabi. However, because DropFunnels is so new, I could imagine them expanding on these support options in the next months or years.

Advantage: Kajabi

Which has more integrations?

Because Kajabi has been in development for so long, it does have more integrations. In terms of email autoresponders though, which is the only type of integration you’ll need with DropFunnels they are pretty even.

So, this is a slight win for Kajabi!

Advantage: Kajabi

Which has better templates?

I prefer DropFunnels’ templates, not only because of the way they look but also because of the different types of templates.

You have templates for Thank you pages, video sales letters, webinar registration, lead generation, and various other types. With Kajabi, you only get a handful of the options you have with DropFunnels.

Advantage: DropFunnels

Which has the better page builder?

This is a clear win for DropFunnels. The page builder feels smoother, has more elements to pick from, and is easier to use in general. This combined with the beautiful templates that also have a great range will give you everything you need to create high-converting funnels & websites.

Kajabi on the other hand has a pretty standard page builder. However, its membership site builder is outstanding.

Advantage: DropFunnels

My conclusion

As you have seen throughout this article, both Kajabi and DropFunnels are great pieces of software.

While DropFunnels wins in front-end funnel and website building, Kajabi wins in membership site creation. If that isn’t enough to help you decide, take a look at the two sections below, where I’ve described what situation each piece of software will be the better option for your business!

Why you should choose DropFunnels

If you are looking for more than a fancy membership site, I would suggest going with DropFunnels.

It simply has a much better page builder, more affordable pricing, and lets you build a wider range of websites.

Additionally, it also has some great features that Kajabi doesn’t have, for example, share funnels.

If you’re looking to build high-converting sales funnels, and go a little heavier on the marketing, you will need something like DropFunnels.

Why you should choose Kajabi

Kajabi is a pretty good option if your business’s main focus is selling info products. If that is the case, then the advanced membership site features could be pretty useful.

I’ve bought lots of high-ticket courses, and the majority of them are hosted inside of Kajabi. This is simply because it offers great student-experience and lots of customization for the creator.
